In the present edition no substantial change has been made except in complex numbers. A systematic formal (axiomatic) treatment of this number system has now been given. Improvements and refinements are made where ever necessary. Notational changes as prevalent in current literature have been effected. The book is presented in a better format.

It is hoped that the book will continue to provide valuable insight to the reader in grasping basic concepts of the subject
